You have been selected to participate in the annual YSU MathFest. We hope that you too are excited about this great opportunity. We have lots of fun activities and workshops planned for you.
You will begin the day with either the Mixed Team Competition or the Challenge of Champions Test. For the Mixed Team Competition, you will be in a group with three or four students from other schools. The purpose of this competition is for you to get to know students from other schools who also have talent and enjoy mathematics. For approximately one hour you and your new found friends will try to solve some interesting, but challenging mathematics problems. Lots of prizes will be given to winning teams! For those students who know that they are good at mathematics and like to take challenging exams, the Challenge of Champions Test is perfect for them. The purpose of this examination is to recognize students with superior talent in mathematics. Students taking this very challenging mathematics test will be competing for some big prize money! Please tell your teachers if you want to take this Challenge!
We have developed several exciting workshops, from which you will attend two. The purpose of the workshops is to introduce you to some areas of mathematics that may not be available to you in high school. We also want to give you a glimpse of both the breadth and depth of mathematics. These workshops are sure to be crowd pleasers so register as soon as possible by submitting the form below, to reserve a spot in your favorite workshops. We ask you to choose your top 5 workshops.
We hope to be able to please everybody! When you arrive at YSU MathFest, you will receive a folder with information indicating what workshops you will be attending. We will also notify your teachers (prior to YSU MathFest) what workshops you will be attending.
